My Uncle George's square dance calls. A Missourian to the core, George---my Dad's younger brother--- was a painter of some degree, having painted the logos of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs onto the playing fields. In doing so, he got to know quite a few of the players personally. Yes, and he was a considerable fan of square dancing, calling dances as late as this past November when he passed away.
The square dance calls were from a reel to reel tape he'd sent my Dad, back in 1964. I transferred them onto cd and give them a listen whenever I want to get cheered up. (I just sent cd's to my cousins, his kids, recently.)
RIP, George. Your spirit and your warmth will truly be missed. (But at least I have the memory of your voice to cherish with a smile.)
