MCGEE, JAMES (?-1836). James McGee (McGehee), Alamo defender, was born in Ireland. He came to Texas by way of New Orleans as a member of Capt. Thomas H. Breece'sqv company of New Orleans Greysqv and took part in the siege of Bexar,qv in which he was severely wounded. He later served in the Alamo garrison as a member of Capt. William Blazeby'sqv infantry company. McGee died in the battle of the Alamoqv on March 6, 1836.
