DIMPKINS, JAMES R. (?-1836). James R. Dimpkins, Alamo defender, was born in England and marched to Texas from New Orleans as a member of Capt. Thomas Breece'sqv company of New Orleans Greys.qv He took part in the siege of Bexarqv and later served in the Alamo garrison as a sergeant in Capt. William Blazeby'sqv infantry company. Dimpkins died in the battle of the Alamoqv on March 6, 1836.
