JONES, JOHN (1810-1836). John Jones, Alamo defender and officer of the Alamo garrison, was born in New York in 1810. He traveled to Texas by way of New Orleans as a sergeant in Capt. Thomas Breece's company of New Orleans Greys.qv He took part in the siege of Bexarqv and later served in the Alamo garrison as lieutenant of Capt. William Blazeby's infantry company. Jones died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
