I remember when the carrier USS Coral Sea collided with another ship off the East coast, i saw her when they brought her in to the Portsmith Va Naval ship yard with a huge hole in it's bow.
From then on, we called her the Coral Crunch.

One has to wonder about the cool bravery of some of the Titanic's crew. When Captain Smith Smith asked the head stoker to keep the engines going for as long as possible, he added under his breath, "I suppose you realize that none of us are probably going to make it." "Yes sir, replied the head stoker, "That's just the way of it sometimes."

Before Capt smith assumed the captain of the Titanic, he was the skipper of the Olympic Which he crashed into a smaller steam ship and caused massave damage to both ships. Interesting, Bromhead. Most film versions of Titanic seem to make Captain Smith appear as but a victim of Ismay, who wanted to make a record time crossing of the Atlantic for the ship's maiden voyage---the devil with safety. Although Captain Smith was considered a 2nd class person by the snobbish upper class, he also became known as "The 1st class captain" by the way he conducted himself. The upper crust just about came to blows in order to sit at his table.

April 15, 2012 will mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.
To cash in on the publicity a 3D version of the 1997 film is due to be released this coming April 6.
