Fire Destroys Alamo Movie SetUpdated: Tuesday, 27 Sep 2011, 9:38 PM CDT Published : Tuesday, 27 Sep 2011, 8:14 PM CDT Lighting strikes may have been to blame for a grass fire in southwest Travis County, which burned six structures at the “Alamo” movie set. The fire began on Hamilton Pool road at the movie set fo the 2004 movie “The Alamo”. The grass fire that led to the burning of the structures is approximately 150-200 acres. It has not been contained. FOX 7 was told the movie set may be a total loss. Reimer Ranch is now being evacuated as a precaution but no homes are threatened at this time. No injuries have been reported. Read more: www.myfoxaustin.com/dpp/top_stories/Fire-Destroys-Alamo-Movie-Set20110927-ktbcw#ixzz1ZDCPjwN9

Per Rich Curilla, this is all that remains of the Alamo portion of the set. SAYS RICH: This, my friends, is the Alamo compound taken from the San Antonio River bridge, or what's left of it. The white stone structure in the gully is one of Michael's dams to hold the water in the river under the bridge. The mound in the upper middle is, I'm pretty sure, the earthen lunette that was around the gunade port in the middle of the west wall. That wouldn't have been altered by the fire. The spires are indeed the buttresses on the south wall of the Alamo Church. The rise of ground at the extreme right edge up in the corner in front of the tree is the tambour lunette outside the gate. The north wall is at the left side of the picture.

I heard about the fire and thought, I'd better see what the Nefarious Ned has posted here. Well, there really wasn't much left of the site anyway, was there, Ned?

Here's the front of the Alamo church after the fire. Note the ruins of a pilaster in the center, as well as the hollow where the cannon ramp used to be. That iron framework to the left was part of a gate that led to the back of the Long Barrack.
