Although i like the movies that are based on Tom's books, i just can't get in to reading them. I think he goes into too much detail on technical stuff but thats just a pet peeve on my part. I do like his USS Iowa BB61 hat he has.....I'm a plank owner and spent two and a half years stationed aboard her back in the mid 80's

he does go into detail alot more than he should. at first i didnt want to read it, but i did because i was board. you do anything if your in the hospital for 4 days, even read a 600 page book.

And speaking of Battle Ship Iowa, here is a photo of her during one of the thousands of "Broadside" shoots that we did. I was mount captain of Mt 56 5inch 38 caliber twin guns as you can see in this photo. It was taken in 1984 and i was a second class Gunners Mate then.
