The battle scene at the end is worth the wait in this Civil War drama about Quantrill (Walter Pidgeon) and his Confederate raiders. You may be reminded of the "throw up a barricade" scenes in both HORSE SOLDIERS and THE ALAMO, as Quantrill's raiders make their infamous raid on Lawrence, Kansas, while the Duke sets out to stop them, along with Gabby Hayes, Claire Trevor and a very young Roy Rogers.

I don´t think I´ve seen Dark Command, but I have heard about Quantrill and his irregular troops raiding after the Civil War. Some kinda guerilla warfare and plunderings, I believe.
