Here's some shots of the historic Guadalupe River in New Braunfels, 28 miles from San Antonio and my new home town. I'll try to post a few more as soon I take them.

Gruene (pronounced "green") Hall in Gruene, a little village withing New Braunfels, situated on the Guadalupe (pronounced gwadaloop") River. It is the oldest dance hall in Texas and dates back to 1885. Notable performers, such as Willie Nelson and George Strait have appeared there.

More shots of the Guadalupe River, below Gruene, taken from the Gruene Bridge, just after the most recent heavy rains.

Its a beautiful river. How far is it from your house? A couple of miles. The Guadalupe winds all through New Braunfels, much like the San Antonio River can be seen all through San Antonio.

You sure found yourself a beautiful place to live, Nef! And close to the Alamo too. Was that the reason for you moving to Texas? To be close to the Alamo and the Texian Alamo buffs? It seems like a great place to live - Alamo buff or not...

After seeing how beautiful the place was when I went on vacation, I would definately move there when I got older. I just don't know if I could stand the heat and being away from NYC.

But, as I'm a retired fellow now and on a fixed income, Texas is also a more affordable place to live than California is.
